On Sunday morning, December 22, 2024, His Excellency General Sao Sokha, President of the Cambodia Football Federation (FFC), held a meeting with officials and members of the Cambodia national football team. The meeting followed the conclusion of the team’s journey in the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024.
During the discussion, the FFC recognized the team’s progress, acknowledging their dedication and improved performance compared to previous tournaments. To encourage the players, the FFC, in collaboration with Vattanac Brewery and other benefactors, awarded each member of the national team a $1,000 cash incentive, despite not advancing to the next stage of the competition.
Plans for the Future of Cambodian Football
Looking ahead, the FFC unveiled future strategies to strengthen the national team. One key initiative, set to be approved during the FFC’s General Assembly in early 2025, involves a new revenue-sharing model for ticket sales from all domestic matches. After covering match organization expenses and government taxes, the remaining revenue will be distributed as follows:
- 25% for National Team Players and Coaching Staff: Rewarding their dedication and efforts.
- 25% for Clubs with National Team Players: Supporting clubs that contribute players to the national squad.
- 25% for Player Health and Welfare: Ensuring proper medical care and overall well-being of the players.
- 25% for the FFC: Allocated for football development programs and initiatives.
This forward-thinking approach aims to motivate players, support local clubs, and strengthen the Cambodian football ecosystem as a whole.
The FFC’s initiatives and continued support demonstrate a commitment to the growth and success of Cambodian football, with hopes of achieving even greater milestones in the future.
